Digi-Depth 99 Depth Sounder
« on: November 26, 2011, 05:46:39 PM »
Hi Guys,

My Cyn has a Digi-Depth 99 depth sounder manufactured by Compass Electronics Corporation in Forest Grove, Oregon. They are now out of business.

I would like to get a copy of the owner's manual for this device.  If anyone has a copy, please let me know.

I am not sure if this device was standard equipment on pearson 323's.

Hi Bill,

I think the original equipment instrumets on Libations were all by Data Marine, which I believe is also out of business. I ended up replacing all of my instruments with RayMarine products.

Good luck,
Richard

Hi Guys,

Are you sure this is the right company?  I dug out the old website for Compass Electronics Corp in Forest Grove, Oregon by using the Wayback Machine at the internetarchive.org.  It seems that they only manufactured metal detectors.

The Compass Electronics name is right on the front of the device. I found similar references to metal detectors on-line as well.

I did a little more digging.  Apparently, Compass Electronics goes back to at least the 70s. This is probably when your unit was built  But they fell on hard times, and a fire finally wiped them out, somewhere around the 90s.

One of their former metal detector techs bought the rights to their name, and began servicing their metal detectors in Europe.  Eventually, he re-opened Compass in 2002.  And now they're gone again.

But this would explain why all of the references to Compass on the web point to only their metal detectors.  Wasn't any Web back in the 70s!

As a follow-up, I found a copy of the user's manual on line.
