So......what projects are you snow sailors up too?

We crossed the Gulf with Searenity a month ago. 36 hour passage from Carrabelle to Hudson Florida. Right now I am in prep mode for Summer vacation. Installing 300W of solar panels to the boat to be able to run a freezer and fans while we spend a couple of months gunk holing to the Dry Tortuga's and then up the Keys and eastern side of Florida until we get to St. Augustine, where we will be keeping our boat for a couple of years.

What are y'all up to?

Actually went up to 40 degrees here today. Shoveled the snow from the cockpit, went inside, and started making a mental note of projects to get started on in a month. Different animal here in Michigan.

Went for a sail Sunday, Monday it was 65 so started the first of many.  Took the Xantrex inverter/charger out to send off because it was not inverting.  Glad I did because all the wires inside the back panel were melted together, don't know why it didn't start a fire.   Have to put an heat element in the hot water heater, put a new pump on the cold plate, new fluxgate compass on the auto pilot, want to change all the running lights to led's and the list goes on and on.  At least not taking her out of the water this year.

We had 3" of snow today. I think that puts us over 6' for the winter. At least 8 sailboats had collapsed covers in the marina, including a very pretty ketch with a custom canvas cover. Every winter I have the mast pulled and the boat shrink wrapped, so no worries. Projects? Last fall I bought an 8' sailing dinghy for my grand daughter, so davits are first on the list. We are expecting another grand daughter in June, so since my wife will be occupied I may splash late and have the hull soda blasted. I probably won't put on a barrier coat, we're only in for 7 months a year so blisters aren't an issue. Besides, there are so many rocks, shoals, and reefs around here, and I don't think they make barrier coat touch up. I'll be replacing the a.c. fuse panel with a breaker panel (kudos to Dolce Vida), and replacing the radar. Last year I had success using my spinnaker pole as a jib boom, so I may get a sail kit from sail rite and make a 95% blade jib. Then again, I may just blow it all off and spend the summer dinghy sailing with my grand daughter. You're only 5 once, you know.
