md11c transmission leak
«

My md11c transmission is leaking.
I'm guessing it's a seal where it connects to Walter v drive.
I'm not having much luck finding any information for this transmission.
I'll appreciate any information.

Had mine rebuilt a few years back by an outfit in Port Clinton, Ohio. It's like butter now. No leaks, no binding, all good. I can get you their contact info when I go to boat this weekend.

Parts are out there but not cheap, even by Volvo Penta standards. It's easy to rebuild. But then I pushed a wrench for a living for 45 years.

Any Volvo Penta dealer should be able to get you parts. Anyone that rebuilds auto transmissions should be able to do it for you especially if you just want to reseal it. You could try adding 1/4 bottle Lucas Oil "transmission fix" to it. Will slow the leak down at least. Auto parts stores carry it.

As far as I can tell transmission and clutches work fine.
Need to do cleanup and top off about every 8 hours of running.
I've seen the part list you lined to but it's for the version with reduction gear in it and the leak appears to be on the output side with is different.
Been looking the reverse gear manual, v drive manual and the real thing.
The ms transmission has 3 parts but the one on the boat has 2 the 3rd is a part of the adapter to the v drive.
I'm suspecting the bad seal is in that adapter.
So I may need to get the seal from Walter.
I'll look into the Lucas Oil "transmission fix" but want to fix it if feasible.

Walter manual attached if you want it. Still an easy fix. Might want to check for axial play if you take it out. Unless the seal is hard it might be a worn bearing that is the cause of the leak.
