Title: Autopilot Compass location
Post by: Wind Whisper on February 18, 2012, 11:42:38 AM
When I purchased my P323 she did not have an autopilot system on board . .This spring I intend on installing one  . . My question is on other P323 where have the installers placed the fluxgate compass module?? I know that Raymarine suggests in the center of the boat both length and width wise . .but . .What is a practical location . . Thanks In Advance  . . Wayne

Ours is located under the port setee/bunk, on the inside face of the liner, just aft of the bulkhead between the main cabin and the head.

It's a good location, geometry-wise, but I did find I had to be careful about what was in any seabags placed on that berth!  I once had a set of magnetic nametags in the bag, and it introduced a significant error!

Mines is under the settee/bench, aft starboard, on the panel which backs onto the chart table. Remove the bin for access. I use that bin for spare life jackets, distilled water, paraffin, etc - no metal!
