Title: New Owner of Pearson 323 in Minnesota
Post by: diamondgirlsails on January 02, 2023, 10:01:18 AM
Greetings!

I just acquired a Pearson 323 and plan to sail her on Lake Pepin.  The boat will be moored at the Lake City Marina.

I have a question about my 1979 Pearson Hull Number: PEA581163M79A

PEA = Pearson
58 = Model (323 1976-81)
1163 = Hull Number
M79 = Model Year (1979)
A = Build Month (August)

Is the Hull Number 1163 correct?  I understood that this should only be 3 digits, but mine has four.  Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Welcome! And congratulations on your new boat.

Somebody better versed in the HIN will chip in, I am sure, but your hull number/boat number seems unusually high!
I have hull #212, and my HIN is PEA58212M80A

So:
PEA = Pearson
58 = Model (323 1976-81)
212 = Hull Number
M80 = Model Year (1980)
A = Build Month (August)

Could an extra 1 have slipped in? I noticed that there is a 1979 hull #163 in the Pearson 323 registry (https://www.pearson323.com/pearson-323-owners-registry.html).

Hi selene,

Yes, I think an extra '1' has slipped into my hull number.  Yikes!
#163 on the registry is the boat that I just purchased (previous owners are listed).  Thanks for pointing that out to me.

Needless to say, I'm excited to launch the boat and start sailing.
