Title: Anybody know if a 10 foot main sail cover works?
Post by: Blue Heron on June 08, 2012, 09:30:41 AM
Hi all,

I'm looking to replace the sail cover on Blue Heron, and I see that standard covers are typically available in 10 or 12 foot sizes. I think our boom is 11 feet, and I wonder if a 10 foot cover will fit?

Anybody gone through this exercise already?

Thanks

Just FYI, I tried a nice mainsail from West Marine with the adjustable panel to allow it to fit a 1- -12 foot boom. ITS A NICE, WELL CONSTRUCTED COVER, BUT, IT DOES NOT FIT AROUND THE MAST.
The mast diameter is just too big, and you cannot close it up.

Looks like I'll have to either make my own with a Sailrite kit, or, take some measurements and have one made.
