Title: Solar Panel Installation
Post by: Libations Too on July 13, 2013, 10:53:58 AM
I finally finished the installation of a 55-watt panel to charge my two battery banks. It is very satisfying to go to the boat and see both battery banks at 14+ volts. The panel is mounted on a hinge allowing it to be stowed in a vertical position if needed. I thought this would be an important aspect of the installation but so far I have not found the panel to be in the way at all....I doubt that it will be stowed very often.

My pleasure Ed!

I just know that if I don't record all of the details I'll forget them in short order. My website serves as my "log book" for these sorts of projects. While working on the project itself I use the evenings or weekends to work on a draft of the web page. I never cease to be surprised about how many little details I overlook when starting a bigger project...and the web page writing helps me identify and sort out the details. I also was distracted by other work so the web page draft helped me regain focus whenever I found time to work on the boat. I'll be happy if others find it helpful too.

Enthusiastic agreement...my solar project is getting higher on my list, unfortunately delayed because of a need to replace my lifelines (with rope!).  Articles like yours are awesome!
