I have noticed a number of 323's have been re-powered with the Yanmar 3GM30F. I have the opportunity to buy a 3GM30 transmission 2.61:1 KM3P. It was a new install. Then the boat was promptly wrecked in a collision rendering the boat unrepairable. The price is very right. Not a lot more $ than I could get for my relatively low hour Volvo. So, is this the correct 3GM30 to use in my 323? Is the Walter V Dive retained or removed? Clearly I haven't a clue! So any help at all will be most gratefully appreciated. Craig

The walter v-drive has a unique engine interface, and is not compatable with modern standardized transmission mounts. You would have to find a modern v-drive that matches the 24-degree "V" angle of the Walter. Until recently, that was pretty difficult, and would require extensive engine bed modification and result in an engine mounted at a too-steep or too-flat angle. But I believe there is now a V-drive available that matches the Walter's angle.
