Title: formica replacement
Post by: Eddy on December 01, 2014, 06:52:11 AM
Im rebuilding the pedestal that the head sits on and it's covered in a white laminate that looks to have some sort of wood veneer as a backing. I've built a new pedestal out of ply and epoxy and would like to recover it in the same material. Does anyone know what it is and where i might find it? I've looked at the big box stores but can't find anything similar. They do sell wilsonart sheets but it doesnt appear to be the same and i'm not sure if it's compatible with epoxy. Any info appreciated.

Check out this link:

Under swatches, I believe it's close to Sail White (#463) or Dover White (#7197)

Lowes and Home Depot are both listed as Formica dealers.

As I recall, one-part contact adhesive is the preferred method of attachment.  There's a "how-to" here:

Thanks for the link. I  ordered 4 samples including the dover and sail. I did go to both lowes and home despot but no stock and no one was able to even say they were able to order. I'll report back on match up of the swatches when they show up. Thanks.
