Title: AC Flush
Post by: Frayed Knot on July 14, 2015, 08:29:55 PM
The sea water is not coming out of the AC unit like I think it should and I think it has a restriction in the coils.  Coming out of the pump is strong.  So the question is has any one used Barnacle Buster and should I bypass the impeller on the pump.  Does It work?

Go to Home Depot, buy some muriatic acid, and flush with that. Lot cheaper, better effect. JUST DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES!

If I use this.  How much water should I dilute it with?

It's a concrete cleaner and used to shock swimming pools. I clean my humidifier filters with it, actually anything where calcium deposits form, like barnacles or zebra muscles. I put about a pint in a gallon of water. Remember, you can pour acid in water, but can't pour water in acid. And again, don't breathe the fumes.

Thanks for the info. I flushed it this weekend and got a lot of crud out but it must have a freon leak. back to the AC man.
