Title: Replacing Mast Sheaves
Post by: jwspeck on January 26, 2016, 04:39:08 PM
Hi,

I'm getting my mast pulled as part of the work at the yard and I'm wondering if anyone has any part numbers for sheaves that would replace the original sheaves? I've switched to all rope halyards and I believe the old ones were meant for wire + rope so it should make the rigging easier!

Thanks in advance,
John Speck

The OEM sheaves were:
    2 1/2" OD
    1/2" wide
    3/8" ID, Oilite bushing
    V-Groove for wire/rope: 3/16" wire, 7/16 rope
    Rig-Rite Part Number K-198-10AB6

In 2013, I converted to all-rope halyards, and had new sheaves made by ZephyrWerks
http://zephyrwerks.com/ (http://zephyrwerks.com/).  They were fast and reasonably priced.

The new sheaves are delrin, with oilite bronze bushings.  I had them grooved for 3/8" line,
and used VPC for the halyards.  Now, if I uncleat and release either halyard, the  sail falls
all the way to the deck without effort.

This is probably a dumb question but...  I want to pre-order my sheaves before arriving at the boat.  How many sheaves are in the masthead?

There are four sheaves on the 323.
