Title: Has anyone replaced the shifter cable?
Post by: edithcollins on March 13, 2017, 03:16:44 PM
We have an Atomic 4 gas and v drive.  Does anyone know part numbers and length of cable needed? I thought I saw a thread from a guy who did this work, but I can not find it now.
Many thanks!
Edith

I replaced cable to my MD11c. Off the shelf little longer than original. You can adjust to fit.

Thanks Bill.  What cable did you use?

Typically Pearson323 have Edson cables.

Excellent! thanks! :-*
Am I correct that you follow the instructions on the Edson website to get at the binnacle end of the cable?
Your help is very much appreciated.

Unfortunately, you have to take the binnacle apart down to the levers. Good thing is, you can take that opportunity to clean and lube everything, and inspect the cables for the steering. How the cable attaches, routes, and adjusts is readily apparent.

Correct, and while you are at it, replace the wheel brake.
BTW: when you remove the compass from the binnacle, mark the binnacle and compass so it gets realigned correctly
